New Features

New view for albums

We've injected more goodness into the album viewing department: Blog view for albums! Some of you may have already noticed the new button next to your albums that says View on blog. Click the button and you'll be able to view your album's contents as blog entries. This view works out great for mixed media albums or albums that contain blog entries because it showcases not just photos, but videos, audio, bookmarks, and text as well. Witness equal opportunity album viewing in action.

Simple wizardry

We realize there's so much you can do on LifeLogger that sometimes, it's tough to figure out where to start. So we came up with the Start Wizard, guaranteed to cure LifeLog emptiness everywhere. The Start Wizard greets you on your LifeLog's home page upon login, offering a list of suggested actions to fatten things up, like uploading media, adding friends, updating your profile, and more. Click on the links to go through the action list and your LifeLog will be well on its way to happier days. If you've already got the magic working on your LifeLog and don't require any wizardry, go to My Account > Preferences to hide the Start Wizard.

Browse profiles on-the-go

Your friends are now brilliantly portable thanks to LifeLogger Mobile. Wherever you go (with your mobile, of course) their profiles will follow. Just enter a username into the Visit user field on LifeLogger Mobile's home page, then click on Profile when you hit the user's page. Browse and repeat. 'Anytime, anywhere' is the order of the day.

Uploading your profile photo just got easier

We figured since human beings are complex beings, we definitely need more than one way of setting a profile photo. So we've come up with another impossibly easy way of doing so. We like to call it the "Upload and poof!" method. It works like this: Go to My Account > Profile, click on the Profile Photo tab, upload your profile photo, and poof! New profile photo. Fairy Godmother would be proud.

LifeLogger to go!

Mobile junkies jump for joy: You can now browse photos and blog entries on LifeLogger from your mobile phone! If you've got a mobile browser on your phone, you've got LifeLogger in your pocket (or your handbag, or around your neck... or wherever you store that thing). The point is, we're on the go because you are. Just punch http://<username>.lifelogger.com into that little keypad and browse yourself silly. Can we get any more mobile? We sure can! Hold the line – we'll keep you posted on new developments.

You don't have to be the last to know

You know those moments where you just draw a blank and go 'Huh'? Kiss them goodbye. We've come up with new notifications to keep you in the loop about life in your LifeLog. All you have to do is open up your inbox and we'll send you the intel. Get our email notifications on updates in your network (find out what your friends are up to), birthday reminders (throw out your emergency stash of lame 'belated birthday' excuses), and stamps (so you won't keep trying to post entries after you've run out of stamps). Give us your orders at My Account > Notifications and we'll deliver.

Badge-r the visitors

We're really getting into this badge-ing thing. We told ya we'd add more to our list of supported Javascript badges and like good boy scouts, we've honoured our pledge. So you'll find that you can now insert the del.icio.us Linkroll, Network, and Tagroll badges painlessly into your snippets. Yummy. Do it at Look & Feel > Snippets > Badges. Oh and we hate to nag, but please remember to activate the badges on your Snippets list if you want to see them on your blog.

Slide slide slide slide

If you heart slideshows, you have some cardio coming your way. We've just injected more frame-by-frame goodness into slideshow-ism by plugging in 3 new slideshow viewers. That brings the grand total to 4 options: Standard, AutoViewer, SimpleViewer, and PostcardViewer. Just click on the links at the top right of your slideshow page to switch between viewers. Enjoy!

Your album, your cover

Since we're all old enough to make our own decisions around here, we've made it possible for you to decide on your own album covers. To give it a go, go to Albums, select an album of your choice by clicking on the album title, then click on the View All tab to view its contents. Select a photo from the list of contents by clicking on the checkbox next to it, then choose 'Set as album cover' from the dropdown menu provided. That's it!

Useful note: Only photos/still images can be used as album covers. Any other media won't do. And you can't set an album cover for your Smart Albums, because they have a mind of their own and are stubborn like that.

You can now opt to exhibit modestly

Does it bug you when your long blog entries get displayed on your blog and your friends have to scroll down like, forever while browsing through your blog? If you're a stickler for such details, then you'll be happy to know that you can now prevent this from happening. We've updated the Blog Now page so that your entry body can be split in two: Body and Extended Body. Text entered into the Body section is set to appear on your blog. Text entered in the Extended Body section is set to be hidden from your blog and will appear only in the individual entry page. So you call the shots how much you want to show on your blog.

Flash your badge

You've been asking, you've been waiting, you've been twitching, and now you have it – You can finally flash your fancy badge on your blog. Pin on a Flickr HTML badge, a Technorati Embed badge, and an AltaVista Translate badge with fuss-free ease. Just go to Look & Feel > Snippets > Badges and paste the badge's code into the appropriate textbox. Don't forget to activate your badge as an item on your Snippets list – If you don't activate it, your badge won't be displayed on your blog and you'll be sad.

Smart Albums love to serve

Your wish is your Smart Album's command. You can now make your albums smart by going to Albums > Create Album, then clicking on the 'Make this a Smart Album' link and specifying Smart Album Tags. Smart Album Tags tell your albums to collect entries based on the tags you specify. That way, all entries with tags that match any of your Smart Album Tags will be added into your intended album. In a nutshell, Smart Albums allow you to organize your entries into albums as you tag them. How's that for smart?

Ongoing research into album intelligence is being conducted. Stay tuned!

More customization, more You

LifeLogger understands that as a special and unique human being, it's imperative that you have sufficient customization options at click's reach without having to crack your head on codes. So we've upped the levels on our customizability! Go to Look & Feel > Styles to grab the candy – you can now easily tweak fonts and links by selecting the styles you want from the dropdown menus available, and effortlessly insert images to be used as your LifeLog's masthead and background by keying in the image's URL. And if all that still can't encompass the depth of your individuality and codes don't scare you, you're very welcome to add your own CSS. Enjoy!

You deserve a soundtrack

Yes you do. That's why we've come up with optional audio accompaniment for your slideshows. Create an ambience for your slideshows by easily adding an audio entry into an album of photos, and enjoy a full audio-visual experience as the audio plays automatically while you watch your slideshow. We're currently researching methods to fetch you your slippers.

More snippets!

We've been extracting more juicy bits for your blog's sidebar. Latest on the silver platter of Snippets are Fresh Bookmarks - display your 10 latest bookmarks, and Connect - display quick links for others to add you as a friend, send you a private message, and subscribe to your LifeLog via RSS. Snip away!

Share your original files... or not

In line with our handy 'Oversharing is not caring' rule-of-thumb, we've come up with another useful feature to aid you in sharing only as much as you care to. You can now choose whether or not you want to allow others to download your original files. We'll hide or show the 'Download Original' link for your entries according to your preference. This way, you can share with reckless abandon or share vital bits without giving it all away. This default setting can be set in My Account > Preferences.

New tags will be picked from time to time to ensure freshness. You'll find the featured tags in your Home view, when you're logged in.

Sharing is now a no-brainer

Sending entries to your friends just got easier. Now that we've plugged in your Friends List into your Send to Friends section, you can share interesting entries with them in just a few clicks. Just key in a username or select a user to send the entry to and click Send. No head-cracking email address recollection required. Leave the donkey work to us.

LifePoster is back

Another great way to dress up your sidebar! A LifePoster pulls photos from your chosen source (your LifeLog, a specific tag, or a specific album) and displays them in a slick tiled format on your blog's sidebar. Set it up at Look & Feel > LifePoster.

Hot stuff

All of LifeLogger's hottest is now at your fingertips upon login. We've added a new section in your Home view called Hot Stuff that lists sizzling top rated entries, latest favourites, and popular LifeLogs. Sure, these lists are available in your Entries, Favourites, and Friends sections, but we figured we'd pull them up for quicker access anyway. Spoilt rotten is right.

Featured entries

When we spot good stuff on LifeLogger, we just can't keep it to ourselves. Featured entries lists a bunch of entries individually handpicked by us for their certain special-ness that we just can't put our finger on. See them in your Entries > Featured section.

Smileys

Nothing gets a message across like a well placed smiley. So it's only right that you can now add smileys to your comments. Just click on the Add Smiley link below the comment box and a bunch of smileys will appear. Click on the one that suits your mood and you'll be good to go.

Snippets

Snippets are back! Go to Look & Feel > Snippets to pick and choose the bits in your LifeLog that you deem worthy of display in your blog's sidebar. Display your graffitti, latest tags, latest albums, your profile, and archives, or hide it all. Minimize or maximise- it's your call.

Menu Bar

We believe your menu bar should contain only the links and items that make you happy. That's why we've enabled you to choose which ones should be there and which ones shouldn't and shuffle them around as you please. Look & Feel > Menu Bar is where it's at.

Viewing albums just got easier

You can now click between tabs that specify entry types (photos, videos, audio, blog entries, and bookmarks) when you're viewing an album. These tabs magically appear or disappear according to the types of entries you have in your album so that your entries are immediately sorted for easy peasy viewing.

Change your username if you're no longer loving it

Having second thoughts about your username? Not a problem. LifeLogger caters to all your alter egos and momentary lapses of sanity. If you no longer love being called 'DiseaseRiddenCow', you can change your username at My Account > Power Tools > Username. Because not all of us are robots.

Invite Friends page

LifeLogger is more fun when your friends are around to tell you how cool your entries are. That's why we've made it nice and easy for you to invite friends. You can invite 10 friends at once from your special Invite Friends page - Just go to Friends > Invite. That's not even the good news. The best bit is that you get an additional 150 stamps a month whenever someone you invite joins you in LifeLogger. The more successful invites, the more stuff you can upload. Your friends will get an additional 150 stamps upon signup too, and will automatically be added to your Friends List to up the headcount on your captive fan base.

Ratings

You like, you rate! The little stars under 'Hotness' on the right of your entries are now active and ready to lock in your ratings. Every time you rate an entry, you're helping form LifeLogger's general opinion and build our Top Rated list. Exercise your right to rate!

Share Albums

You can now share entire albums by emailing them to your friends. Just click on an album you like, then click on the Share tab and you'll be able to email the album to 10 friends at a go! Sharing is caring.

Set your dates as precisely as you wish

This one's a treat for all you sticklers - We've added another power tool to let you reset the dates for your photo entries to display the exact date the photos were taken. This baby pulls the date from your EXIF data (the details recorded by your digital camera; Yes, this means it only works for digital photos) so all the dates on your photos can be super precise. Go to My Account > Power Tools > Entries to get it done.

WYSIWYG editor for Graffiti

It's hard to believe, but you really can be cool even if you are HTML-illiterate. The WYSIWYG editor will take you there! And now we have it available for your Graffiti-ing pleasure. Bold text, change fonts, italicise, add images and links... the works! All you have to do is click.
