LifeMail

Dear LifeLogger,

Change is the essence of life. It makes us grow in many different directions and helps us trek down those paths with a bounce on our heels. You just know it must be good because it sets off a bunch of pseudo-philosophical thoughts. So this issue of LifeMail is all about change and new things, because obviously, we have to focus on concepts we’ll explain to children when their milk teeth start to drop. And mostly because LifeLogger is stewing a big tasty pot of changes that’s bringing on brand new days, and I’m more than a little excited about it:

Project Onion

I know we’ve been a little mute lately, but here’s a reason better than laryngitis: The thing is, the LifeLogger tech goblins have been buzzing like an overactive refrigerator for the past few months, putting day and night into a whole new version of LifeLogger! I really hate to be saying this in passing this way—with all the excitement building up back here, I should really be running across town painting over signboards with this news. Yes, we’re that excited, and it’s that new. The codename is Project Onion—it’s a fitter, happier LifeLogger, and it’s your wishlist come true.

Wanna be one of the first to experience the new LifeLogger? Be a part of Project Onion! Project Onion is now in its beta stage, and we’re looking for beta testers. If you’re interested in checking out LifeLogger’s new look, test driving its new features, and being a part of taking Project Onion from bang to kaboom, send an email with your username to start@projectonion.com. If you’re selected to be a part of Project Onion’s beta tester’s pool, you’ll receive an email invitation. Upon completion of the beta tester’s action list and web survey, beta testers will be rewarded with a free upgrade to 250 stamps a month in their LifeLogs once the brand spanking new LifeLogger is launched. Limited beta accounts are available, so if this sounds good to you, send that email now. Let’s build this baby!

Mini Makeover

If you’ve seen our homepage lately, you would’ve noticed a few morsels of newness. We figured it needed a little spruce so we gave it a mini makeover. You’ll now be able to view fresh featured snaps each week, handpicked by us for their creativity, wit, sheer gorgeousness, and other super powers. We’ve also pulled the Journal a little higher to make it easier for you to view updates at a glance. Now that’s love.

Beyond 2000

Aah, the adventures of MMS postings. The faithful 2000 shortcode (familiar to DiGi users) has been discontinued since 15th Nov 2005. But step away from the panic button—if you love the convenience and mobility of MMS postings, you can still continue doing so by sending the MMS to your LifeLog email address instead. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Create an MMS
  2. Insert a photo into the MMS
  3. Send the MMS to your LifeLog email address, which is always <username>@enjoy.lifelogger.com

For instance, if your username is bob, your LifeLog email address would be bob@enjoy.lifelogger.com

This is available to users of all mobile operators. Do check with your mobile operator that your MMS and GPRS settings are properly configured in order to avoid tearing your hair out from MMS-related frustrations. Go ahead, call the friendly dude at Customer Service.

Or, you can opt to email photos from your trusty computer.

Roadshow

LifeLogger’s hit the road with Nokia on the exciting Nokia/LifeLogger Roadshow. It’s been fun, and if you haven’t gone to get a piece of the action, it’s not too late to get going. Catch us at 1 Utama this weekend, 20th & 21st November 2005. Bring your buddies too! Mystery gifts will be handed out to lucky new LifeLogger registrants and visitors. And do take this opportunity to give your phone some lovin’ by surrendering it to the expert hands of Nokia Care for free software upgrades and fine-tuning. Phones are people too!

So there it is—big changes, little changes, and resulting adventures. I think now’s as good a time as any to get sappy and say a big thank you for giving life to LifeLogger with all your photos and wisecracks. We’re super excited about evolving LifeLogger as you know it and making it much much more, and then some.

To infectious excitement and shiny new things,
